This is a traditional Shetland Lace hap (shawl) made in the 9 section method.
This is one of the methods which traditional Shetland haps are made. It is made in sections and joined as you go.
The hap is named after the Roerwater Loch in Northmavine, Shetland. It was one of my Grandfather’s favourite places to walk to.
The hap can be made all in one colour. If you want to make it as shown this is the breakdown of the yarn used:
The total yarn used was 425g/1955m
Grey 203 = 210g/966m
Blue FC39 = 215g/990m
Lace edging = 110g/506m
Boards = 210g/966m
Centre = 105g/483
Finished size: 128cm/50in square
It is joined with the Betsy Join but can be joined in your preferred method.
The pattern does not include the instructions for the Betsy Join.
